This version of Midsummer is set in an original post-apocalyptic world that highlights the sexist, classist, and homophobic issues in the unaltered script, with an additional commentary on climate change. The Athenian costumes use color, texture, and light to indicate class, silhouette to imply sexuality, and the placement of gold to indicate the value of each character based on their gender and marital status. The fairies’ costumes use silhouette, texture, and light to assign blame for their current unnatural state of being.
