Carnal Inferno

Production Designer, Indie Short Film

The film is split between bleak reality and the fantastical world formed in Mark’s subconscious as a result of severe head trauma. The first scene in the boxing rink is shot through Gothic arches to foreshadow spiritual revelations. The hospital is dark and claustrophobic as Mark’s head trauma starts taking hold. Mark’s own home is riddled with evidence of previous head injuries: newspapers cover the windows there is a general air of filth and neglect. Finally, the fantastical world is literally full of Mark’s demons, as their human forms are used to add dimension and suspense to the forest.
